ON A 3-1 VOTE MONDAY, THE SPALDING COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS WILL KEEP THE ELECTION SUPERVISOR UNDER THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS AND NOT PUT IT UNDER THE COUNTY MANAGER. COMMISSIONER JAMES DUTTON THE NO VOTE. THE BOARD HELD A PUBLIC HEARING AND 6 CITIZENS TESTIFIED, MOSTLY ELECTION BOARD MEMBERS--TO KEEP THE POST UNDER THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS. THE COMMISSIONERS WERE TOLD THEY CONTROL THE BUDGET OF THAT DEPARTMENT--SO THEY DO HAVE OVERSIGHT.
TO MAKE A CHANGE WOULD REQUIRE ACTION BY THE GA. GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
