FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE JOHNNIE CALDWELL HAS TAKEN ISSUE WITH A FACEBOOK POST BY STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 131 MEMBER KEN PULLIN OF PIKE COUNTY. PULLIN POSTED THAT CALDWELL AND SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE DAVID RALSTON PLANNED TO RUN A CANDIDATE AGAINST HIM IN THE MAY PRIMARY--SOMETHING CALDWELL DENIED IN A STATEMENT TO 101 NEWS.
PULLIN ANNOUNCED LAST WEEK HE WOULD NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION.
CALDWELL ALSO SAID HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH AN INVITE RESOLUTION THAT WAS CANCELLED ON THE HOUSE FLOOR TO RECOGNIZE THE THOMASTON-UPSON TEAM OF HEART AND SOUL, MONDAY. UPSON'S STATE SENATOR JOHN KENNEDY HELD THE CEREMONY ON THE SENATE FLOOR AND IN HIS STATEMENT CALDWELL THANKED HIM FOR THAT EFFORT.
PIKE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBER BETH CAMP QUALIFIED MONDAY AND THOMASTON BUSINESSMAN KENNY COGGINS SAID HE PLANS TO QUALIFY THURSDAY AT THE STATE CAPITAL.
