TPD OFFICER INJURED MAKING ARREST

A  CITY OF  THOMASTON  POLICE  OFFICER  RECEIVED  A  BROKEN  LEFT  RING  FINGER  MAKING  A  SHOPLIFTING  ARREST  AT WAL MART.

POLICE  CHIEF MIKE  RICHARDSON  SAID  OFFICER  MORGAN  PROSSER IS   STILL   ON  DUTY  AFTER A  TUSSLE  WITH THE  SUSPECT,  25  YEAR OLD JARVIS GRANTLING.  WAL  MART OFFICALS  TOLD  POLICE  GRANTLING  WAS  STEALING  SEVERAL  ITEMS FROM THE STORE  AND  FEMALE  OFFICER PROSSER  WAS  LEADING  HIM  TO  THE  SQUAD  CAR  WHEN  HE  STARTED AN  ALTERCATION--BROKE  AND  RAN.  OFFICER PROSSER  AND ANOTHER P.D. OFFICER   AND   AN OFF-DUTY  BARNESVILLE  POLICEMAN MICHAEL  BLANKENSHIP   IN  THE  PARKING  LOT--CAPTURED  GRANTLING  AND  HE  GAVE POLICE  A  FALSE NAME .  HE HAD SEVERAL  PILLS ON HIS  PERSON INCLUDING  OXYCODONE.

ONCE IN THE POLICE  UNIT GRANTLING  STARTED BANGING HIS  HEAD ON  THE  WINDOW--AND  WAS CHECKED  AT  THE  E.R. BEFORE  BEING  BOOKED INTO  JAIL. HE FACES CHARGES OF  SHOPLIFTING,  POSSESSION   DANGEROUS  DRUGS,  OBSTRUCTION OF  AN  OFFICER AND  GIVING  FALSE NAME.
