UPSON EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND UPSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE HAS SET UP HEADQUARTERS AT THE UPSON COUNTY ROADS DEPARTMENT BUILDING ON 74 EAST. SHERIFF DAN KILGORE TOLD US CELL PHONE SERVICE IS OUT AND OTHER PHONE SERVICE IS DOWN AND THAT'S HAMPERED RECOVERY OPERATIONS. SHERIFF KILGORE ORDERED THE PUBLIC TO STAY AWAY FROM 74 EAST--ITS BLOCKED BY A HOUSE THAT WAS LIFTED UP BY THE STORM AND PLACED IN THE ROAD. TREES ARE SNAPPED OFF -- SOME OUT BUILDINGS ARE DAMAGED AND POWER LINES ARE DOWN ON 74 EAST.
A GSP HELICOPTER HAS BEEN DISPATCHED TO TAKE THE SHERIFF AND EMA DIRECTOR MARTHA ANN MCCARTY FOR A TOUR OF THE DAMAGE AROUND 9AM.
