IT CAME FROM TALBOT COUNTY UP 36 WEST AND HOPPED ABOUT THE EASTERN END OF THE COUNTY--POUNDING 74 EAST AND THE TRINITY ROAD COMMUNITY. LINCOLN PARK SEEMED TO ESCAPE DAMAGE BUT IT JUMPED ACROSS 19 SOUTH AND SLAMMED THE GOLF COURSE.

HOMES WERE DESTROYED, OUT BUILDINGS CRUSHED AND TREES WERE SNAPPED OFF. 101 NEWS VISITED WITH TWO FAMILIES WHOSE HOUSES WERE TOTALED BY THE STORM -- THE BUTCH MCDANIEL FAMILY AND THE TROY HAWKINS FAMILY AT 74 EAST AND TRINITY ROAD.

GA. DOT REMOVED A HOUSE THAT BLOCKED 74--A DWELLING JUST EAST OF TRINITY ROAD-- PICKED-UP AND PLACED IN THE ROADWAY PRETTY-MUCH INTACT. WE WERE TOLD NO ONE WAS AT HOME WHEN THE STORM HIT.
EMA DIRECTOR MCCARTY, SHERIFF DAN KILGORE AND UPSON COUNTY COMMISSION CHAIRMAN NORMAN ALLEN TOOK A TOUR OF THE DAMAGE IN A GSP HELICOPTER MONDAY MORNING . AND THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WAS EXPECTED IN TOWN MONDAY AFTERNOON TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS A TORNADO.
CLEAN-UP CREWS FROM AS FAR AWAY AS WARNER ROBINS RESPONDED, GA. FORESTRY DISPATCHED A BULLDOZER, THE GA. STATE PATROL WAS WORKING TRAFFIC AND ROCK HILL FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS WASHING DOWN THE ROADWAY AFTER THE HOUSE WAS REMOVED OFF 74 .
SHERIFF KILGORE SAID POST-STORM EFFORTS HAD BEEN AFFECTED BY THE LACK OF CELL SERVICE IN THE COUNTY. APPARENTLY DUE TO THE STORM.
UPSON EMC CEO NEAL TRICE REPORTED POWER OUTAGES OUT 74 EAST AND SAID CUSTOMERS WERE HINDERED IN REPORTING THEM DUE TO PHONE SERVICE BEING DOWN. YOU CAN CALL STATION TO STATION ON LAND LINES BUT THERE'S NO CELL SERVICE IN MOST OF THE COUNTY.
