A THOMASTON MAN ANOTHER FROM MCDONOUGH, WERE SHOT AND KILLED IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA LAST THURSDAY WHILE WORKING ON A CELLPHONE TOWER OFF FIRESTONE ROAD AND MORSE AVENUE ON.JACKSONVILLE'S WESTSIDE. PHILLIP HARLEY, 37 OF THOMASTON, AND MICHAEL THOMAS 35 OF MCDONOUGH, GEORGIA, BOTH TELECOMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIANS TRAVELED FROM THOMASTON TO JACKSONVILLE LAST WEEK.
AN OFFICER AT THE SCENE THURSDAY SAID IT WAS UNCLEAR IF THE SHOOTING WAS PART OF A ROBBERY. BOTH VICTIMS WERE FOUND JUST AFTER 6 PM INSIDE A SMALL BUILDING AT THE BASE OF THE TOWER. EACH HAD BEEN SHOT MULTIPLE TIMES.
HARLEY AND THOMAS GOT TO THE FIRESTONE ROAD TOWER ABOUT 10 PM WEDNESDAY, ACCORDING TO THE JACKSONVILLE SHERIFF'S OFFICE, THEIR BODIES WERE FOUND THE NEXT MORNING.
POLICE ARE PIECING TOGETHER WHAT HAPPENED IN THE HOURS BETWEEN. NO TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT WAS STOLEN, THERE WAS AN ARMED ROBBERY REPORTED AT THE ADDRESS OF THE CELLPHONE TOWER TWO NIGHTS BEFORE THE SHOOTING, AND THERE IS A STRONG POSSIBILITY THEW TWO INCIDENTS ARE RELATED.
