THOMASTON POLICE CHIEF MIKE RICHARDSON HAS IDENTIFIED TWO SUSPECTS AFTER THEY WERE ARRESTED FOR STREET RACING WEDNESDAY AND BOOKED INTO THE UPSON COUNTY JAIL.
A 4-WHEEL DRIVER, DYRANM BANKS, AGE 30 OF THOMASTON WAS AMONG A GROUP OF STREET RACERS TRAVELING ON SOUTH GREEN STREET NEAR OLD TALBOTTON ROAD. BANKS FLED FROM THE LAW AND ABANDONED THE 4-WHEELER IN LINCOLN PARK AND WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER A BRIEF FOOT CHASE. BANKS ALSO HAD AN OUTSTANDING WARRANT IN LAMAR COUNTY. HE'S CHARGED WITH RECKLESS DRIVING, NO LICENSE, FELONY FLEEING, OBSTRUCTION, AND SEVERAL OTHER TRAFFIC AND EQUIPMENT VIOLATIONS.
A DIRT BIKE RIDER, DANQUAVIS WALKER, AGE 27 OF THOMASTON DUMPED HIS BIKE ON SOUTH GREEN AT UPSON AVE, FLED ON FOOT AND WAS APPREHENDED AFTER A BRIEF FOOT CHASE. WALKER WAS CHARGED WITH RECKLESS DRIVING, FELONY FLEEING, OBSTRUCTION, NO LICENSE, NO HELMET, NO INSURANCE, NO REGISTRATION AND OTHER TRAFFIC AND EQUIPMENT VIOLATIONS.
CHIEF RICHARDSON SAID THE DIRT BIKE AND 4-WHEELER WERE IMPOUNDED BY THE P.D. THE CHIEF SAID STREET RACING HAS BEEN ON THE RISE IN THE COMMUNITY, WITH GROUPS SPEEDING THROUGH PARKS AND NEIGHBORHOODS AND HE URGES CITIZENS TO CALL 911 IF THEY OBSERVE STREET RACING, THAT'S THE QUICKEST WAY TO GET OFFICERS TO RESPOND .
