THOMASTON POLICE TRIED TO SAVE A MAN WHO DIED IN HOUSE FIRE

THOMASTON POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS RELEASED ITS REPORT ON THE FATAL FIRE AT 202 AVE . L. LAST WEDNESDAY THAT LEAD TO THE DEATH OF JOSEPH LAWSON. WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVED THE RENTAL HOUSE WAS TOTALLY INVOLVED.

POLICE BROKE TWO WINDOWS IN THE RESIDENCE AFTER HEARING LAWSON YELLING FROM THE INSIDE THE FRONT BEDROOM --AND AN OFFICER CALLED TO HIM TO FOLLOW THE SOUND OF HIS VOICE BUT SMOKE AND FLAMES KEPT LAWSON FROM EXITING THE HOUSE AND POLICE FROM ENTERING.

FIRE CHIEF RENEE HARRIS SAID LAWSON AND HIS WIFE CORRINA GOT OUT O.K. BUT LAWSON WENT BACK INSIDE TO GET THE CAR KEYS TO HIS GMC SUV AND WAS APPARENTLY TRAPPED. THE CHIEF SAID THE FIRE SEEMED TO START IN THE KITCHEN. STATE FIRE MARSHALL IS INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE.
