A MOTORCYCLIST WAS AIR FLIGHTED TO MACON MEDICAL CENTER AFTER HE CRASHED AND HIT A UTILITY POLE EARLY TUESDAY MORNING AT SOUTH CHURCH AND VETERANS DRIVE DURING A CHASE WITH THOMASTON POLICE. CHIEF MIKE RICHARDSON IDENTIFIED THE BIKER AS 39 YEAR OLD THOMAS WINTERS OF YATESVILLE.
CHIEF RICHARDSON TOLD 101 NEWS WINTERS WAS SPOTTED BY AN OFFICER WHEN HE RODE BY THE POLICE STATION AROUND 7:30 AM AND A CHASE BEGAN INVOLVING HIS OFFICERS THAT ENDED WITH THE CYCLE TRAVELING OVER 100 MPH.
UPSON COUNTY SHERIFF DAN KILGORE TOLD US IT'S BELIEVED THIS IS THE SAME MOTORCYCLE INVOLVED IN A CHASE WITH DEPUTIES ON 19 NORTH 2 OR 3 WEEKS AGO.
