ACCORDING TO UPSON COUNTY SHERIFF DAN KILGORE, AN ATV ACCIDENT RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF A PIKE COUNTY HIGH STUDENT, RILEY NUCE AGE 16 OF THOMAS TRAIL IN MEANSVILLE, SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT 1965 ANDREWS CHAPEL ROAD.
RILEY NUCE WAS PRONOUNCED DECEASED AT THE SCENE BY CORONER CRAIG STUBBS. SHERIFF KILGORE CALLED IT A TRAGIC ACCIDENT AND URGED PRAYERS AND SUPPORT FOR THE FAMILY OF DIANE AND CHAD NUCE, AN ATTORNEY WITH THE FIRM OF PASLEY, NUCE, MALLORY, AND DAVIS.
ACCORDING TO THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORT -- RILEY AND HIS YOUNGER BROTHER COLBY WERE RIDING IN A PASTURE AT THE FAMILY FARM WHEN THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED. COLBY TOLD THE S.O. HE WAS ON A FOUR WHEELER AND RILEY WAS IN A SIDE BY SIDE. HE SAW RILEY COMING AT HIM AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND HE APPARENTLY LOST CONTROL OF THE POLARIS VEHICLE AND IT ROLLED OVER ON ITS SIDE AND THE ROLL CAGE STRUCK RILEY IN THE HEAD. SHERIFF KILGORE SAID THE VEHICLE CAME TO REST ON TOP OF HIM.
