THE LATE BOBBY POPE OF THOMASTON AND MACON NATIVE JEFF BATTCHER WILL HAVE SEATS OF HONOR AT THE ATLANTA BRAVES BALLPARK THIS WEEK FOR THEIR SERIES AGAINST THE MARLINS.
BATTCHER WAS NOMINATED FOR HIS WORK WITH UNITED WAY OF CENTRAL GA. AND HE ASKED THAT HIS CARDBOARD CUTOUT BE REPLACED WITH ONE OF BOBBY -- FORMER ATHLETIC DIRECTOR AT MERCER AND CHANNEL 13 TV SPORTS DIRECTOR--WHO STARTED HIS BROADCASTING CAREER IN THOMASTON.
THE BRAVES INSTEAD CHOSE TO HONOR BOTH MEN WITH CUTOUTS. THE POPE AND BATTCHER CUTOUTS WILL SIT BEHIND HOME PLATE FOR THE MARLINS SERIES THROUGH SEPTEMBER 24.
