UPSON COUNTY AND THE CITIES OF THOMASTON AND YATESVILLE HAVE DECIDED THE SPLIT FOR CONTINUATION OF THE SPLOST TO BE VOTED ON IN NOVEMBER.
OF THE ANTICIPATED $23 MILLION TO BE COLLECTED-UPSON COUNTY TO RECEIVE $14.9 MILLION, THOMASTON $8.1 MILLION AND CITY OF YATESVILLE $233,000. YATESVILLE PROJECTS LIST INCLUDES $172,000 FOR ITS WATER SYSTEM AND $85,000 FOR A PAVILION AT THE WALKING TRACK TO INCLUDE RESTROOMS.
THOMASTON'S CITY MANAGER RUSSELL THOMPSON SAID IT WILL CONTINUE TO SPEND MOST OF ITS SPLOST ON WATER AND SEWER PROJECTS BUT HE ADVISED COUNCIL TO APPROVE BROAD WORDAGE ON THE BALLOT.
