PIKE COUNTY TO REBID AMBULANCE CONTRACT

GRADY EMERGENCY SERVICES/SOUTH GEORGIA AMBULANCE HAS NOTIFIED THE PIKE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS IT WILL BE TERMINATING ITS CONTRACT WITH THE COUNTY IN 60 DAYS, ENDING SERVICE ON JUNE 30, 2019. THE COMMISSIONERS PLAN TO REBID THE CONTRACT THAT IS CURRENTLY $250,000 ANNUALLY-BUT ZOOM RADIO WAS TOLD AFTER TUESDAY'S MEETING GRADY IS LOSING MONEY WITH THE CURRENT CONTRACT.

ACCORDING TO PIKE COUNTY TIMES DOT COM, GRADY PROVIDED THE COUNTY WITH THREE OPTIONS THAT WERE DISCUSSED AT TUESDAY'S MEETING BUT TWO REDUCED THE NUMBER OF AMBULANCES IN SERVICE FROM 2 TO 1. A THIRD OPTION FOR 2 FULL TIME AMBULANCES WAS $500,000 ANNUALLY. FORMER COUNTY MANAGER JOHN HANSON, NOW A GRADY EMS EXECUTIVE INFORMED PIKE COUNTY BY E-MAIL MAY IST IT WAS TERMINATING THE CONTRACT BUT INDICATED IT WAS OPEN TO CONTINUING NEGOTIATIONS FOR A NEW CONTRACT.
