FOLLOWING
A VOTE BY THE SPALDING COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS,
MONDAY, HEALTH INSURANCE COSTS FOR EMPLOYEES WILL INCREASE
BY 20%-- WITH ANTHEM/BLUE CROSS BECAUSE THE COUNTY'S COSTS
ARE GOING-UP $1.2 MILLION ANNUALLY TO AROUND $6.8 MILLION.
COMMISSIONER
BART MILLER CAST THE ONLY NO VOTE—AGAINST THE STAFF
RECOMMENDATION, EXPLAINING IT COULD MEAN A ONE MILL TAX
INCREASE—AND HE PLEDGED NOT TO RAISE TAXES.
COUNTY
MANAGER WILLIAM WILSON SAID THE COUNTY HAD A DEADLINE
DECISION—SO THE PLAN CHOSEN CAN BE PRINTED FOR EMPLOYEES TO
REVIEW.
THE
COMMISSIONERS WERE ADVISED A PROPOSAL FROM CIGNA WOULD COST
MORE IN THE LONG TERM.
SPALDING
COUNTY IS STARTING THE TRASH TAG INITIATIVE—PROVIDING
TRASH BAGS FOR CITIZENS TO CLEAN-UP AND POST BEFORE AND
AFTER PHOTOS — THEN COUNTY CREWS WILL PICK-UP THE TRASH
BAGS.
