POWER OFF DOWNTOWN THOMASTON FRIDAY EVENING

POWER  WAS OFF  FOR  OVER AN HOUR AND A  HALF  FRIDAY EVENING ON  THE  WESTERN  SIDE OF  DOWNTOWN  THOMASTON AND  DOWN SOUTH CHURCH  STREET  AFTER A  BIG  RIG  CLIPPED  A  POWER POLE AND TRANSFORMER BLOCKING  BOTH  LANES OF  SOUTH  CHURCH WITH  WIRING.

WTGA/FUN 101  RADIO  WAS OFF  THE AIR,  ALL TRAFFIC  LIGHTS ON  THE  WEST SIDE OF  DOWNTOWN  WERE OFF AND BIG CHIC  AND SLICES  RESTAURANTS  WERE IN  THE  DARK  JUST    AS THE   FRIDAY NIGHT  EAT-OUT  CROWD WAS  SHOWING-UP.

POLICE CHIEF MIKE  RICHARDSON  TOLD   101 NEWS  AN  18  WHEELER CUT IT  TOO  CLOSE  TURNING  FROM  SOUTH  CHURCH ONTO HILL  STREET  AND HIT  THE POLE  NEAR THE  TRINITY  BAPTIST CHURCH PARKING  LOT.

CITY  OF  THOMASTON  ELECTRICAL  CREWS  HAD  TO  CUT  THE  POWER AT  6;20PM  TO  REPAIR  THE  DAMAGE  AND IT  WAS  BACK ON  AT  7;45  OR SO.
