CITY OF THOMASTON TAX INCREASE? ELECTRICAL RATE HIKE?

AT TUESDAY'S MEETING---STAFF TOLD THE THOMASTON MAYOR AND COUNCIL THEY HAVE SOME TOUGH DECISIONS TO MAKE IN THE FUTURE.

COULD BE A TAX MILLAGE INCREASE NEXT YEAR TO FUND A NEW FIRE STATION, AND A ELECTRICAL RATE INCREASE TO SOFTEN THE COMING BLOW FOR MEAG OWNERSHIP IN THE PLANT VOGLE NUCLEAR PLANT UPGRADE THAT IS A ZILLION DOLLARS OVER BUDGET.

MAYOR J.D. STALLINGS TOLD US GA. DOT IS CONDUCTING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL STUDY AT THE ONE-TIME MUNICIPAL BUILDING ON NORTH CHURCH—TO SEE IF A TRAFFIC LIGHT WOULD WORK THERE. SOMETHING TO HALT TRAFFIC WHEN THE TRUCKS PULLED OUT TO MAKE A RUN. BEHIND THE BUILDING WHERE THE JAIL WAS ONCE LOCATED IS A SITE BEING EXPLORED FOR A NEW FIRE STATION—THAT COULD HOUSE THE NEW LADDER TRUCK NOW PARKED OFF 36 EAST WITH EMS.
