TUESDAY'S MEETING--GRIFFIN CITY MANAGER KENNY SMITH UPDATED THE
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON THE FBI INVESTIGATION INTO THE
LOSS OF $800,000 BY COMPUTER HACKING.
THE
FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED JUNE 21ST FOR OVER $581,000 AND THE
2ND INCIDENT JUNE 26TH FOR $221,000.

MOON A COMPANY THE CITY USES FOR WATER TREATMENT FACILITIES
SENT AN E-MAIL TO THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT REQUESTING AN
ACCOUNT CHANGE AND NEEDED TO UPDATE INFORMATION—AND CITY
HALL SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED ON THE UP AND UP.
THE
FRAUD WAS FOUND AFTER THE EMAIL ADDRESSES USED FOR THE TWO
TRANSACTIONS WAS NOT THE CORRECT E-MAIL.
THE
CITY MANAGER SAID LITTLE ELSE CAN BE REVEALED BUT THERE ARE
INDICATIONS FROM SUN TRUST BANK IT CAN RETRIEVE THE
MONEY IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
