As of August 9, 2020, nationally there has been a 63.3% Census 2020 response rate. Georgia has a 59.0% rate, 37th place among the states. Upson County has a 62.0% Census 2020 response rate, ranking it 26th of the 159 Georgia counties for the third straight week. That is inside the top 17% in Georgia. Upson County ranked as high as 5th in Georgia in the early weeks of the Census. Ten years ago, the final Upson County Census 2010 self-response rate (before enumerators are sent out) was 65%, a mark missed by 3% this census.
Upson County is divided into eight Census tracts. Tract 103 is comprised of most of the western third of the County from Molena down to just south of the Adam’s Ferry Road area, as far east as Hightower Lake/Basin Creek. This tract continues to lead the County with a 65.9 % response rate. Tract 105 which includes northeast Thomaston, the Tom McKinley, Country Village and Morningside Subdivision areas trails the rest of the County at 59.8%.
The Census 2020 website lists 539 towns and cities in Georgia. Thomaston is tied with Thomasville and Homer this week at 89th place with a 60.4% response rate. Yatesville is at 206th place with 53.3%.
