FOLLOWING EXECUTIVE SESSION, TUESDAY, THE UPSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS VOTED 4-1 TO EXERCISE AN OPTION ON THE CHAD MURPHY PROPERTY ON 19 SOUTH AS THE SITE OF A NEW JUSTICE CENTER. CHAIRMAN NORMAN ALLEN CAST THE NO VOTE, HE FAVORED THE DANIEL PROPERTY BECAUSE ITS CLOSER TO DOWNTOWN THOMASTON.
COMMISSIONER JAMES ELLINGTON SAID DEVELOPMENT COST ESTIMATES ARE MUCH LOWER FOR THE MURPHY PROPERTY AND ITS AN OPPORTUNITY TO REVITALIZE THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE COMMUNITY.
