URMC AMBULANCE CONTRACT QUESTIONED

UPSON  COUNTY COMMISSIONER  FRANK  SPRAGGINS  URGED  CAUTION ON  ANY  ATTEMPT  TO  DISCONTINUE  THE  AMBULANCE  SERVICE  CONTRACT  WITH  URMC, AT TUESDAY’S  MEETING. COMMISSIONER  STEVE HUDSON  SAID  HE  WANTS  OUT  OF  THE  CONTRACT, IF POSSIBLE. ITS A FIVE YEAR  CONTRACT  THROUGH  2013,  THE  FIRST  YEAR  $480,000  WITH  A  5%  INCREASE  ANNUALLY. THE  COUNTY  RECEIVED  AN INVOICE  THIS  MONTH  FOR   $85,000  TO  COVER  THE  AMOUNT  OF  THE  INCREASE  THE  COUNTY  ALLEGEDLY  HAS  NOT  PAID. CHAIRMAN  MAURICE  RAINES  TOLD  THE  BOARD  HE  PLANS  TO  MEET  WITH   THE  HOSPITAL  BOARD  NEXT  WEEK  TO  DISCUSS  THE  MATTER.
