DR. KATHY MANSFIELD ISSUES STATEMENT

THOMASTON  PEDIATRICIAN  DR.  KATHY  MANSFIELD  HAS  ISSUED  A  STATEMENT  REGARDING  A  GUILTY  PLEA  SHE  ENTERED  LAST  WEEK  ON  CHARGES  OF  MEDICAID  FRAUD. ACCORDING   TO  GEORGIA’S  ATTORNEY  GENERAL  SHE  WAS  SENTENCED  TO  FINE, PROBATION,  AND  RESTITUTION  OF  $537,000.  IN   A  STATEMENT  PROVIDED  TO  TGA  NEWS, DR.  MANSFIELD  SAID “ THE  JUDGE  ALLOWED  ME  TO  ENTER  A  SPECIAL PLEA UNDER  A RARELY  USED RULE—AN ALFORD PLEA—WHERE  GUILT  IS  DENIED  AND  I  WAS  ALLOWED  TO  MAINTAIN MY  INNOCENCE. THE  COURT  UNDERSTOOD THAT MY  STAFF AND  I  SIMPLY MADE  A  VERY REPETITIVE, COSTLY MISTAKE. I  HAD  BEEN  OFFERING TO  REPAY  THE  MONEY   I  OWE  THE  STATE FOR  YEARS  BEFORE  THIS  CASE WAS  FILED. I  DECIDED TO USE THIS  ALFORD RULE  TO  ENTER  MY  SPECIAL PLEA SO  THAT  THERE  WOULD  BE  NO  RISK  WHATSOEVER THAT I WOULD  BE  TAKEN  AWAY FROM MY  TWO  CHILDREN. WHAT  I  WANT  THE  COMMUNITY  TO  KNOW IS  THAT  THIS IS  A  BILLING  ISSUE  ONLY, NOT  AN  ISSUE  OF PATIENT  CARE. MY  PRACTICE IS OPEN  AND WILL  REMAIN  OPEN, AS  MY  TOP  PRIORITY IS  TO  PROVIDE  THE  BEST  POSSIBLE  CARE FOR  ALL  THE  CHILDREN IN  OUR  AREA. “ ACCORDING  TO  THE  PRESS  RELEASE  FROM  ATTORNEY  GENERAL  SAM  OLENS,  PEDIATRIC    ASSOCIATES    OF  THOMASTON    USED GREATER AMOUNTS OF  THE  DRUG  SYNAGIS THAN    DR.  MANSFIELD    ACTUALLY  PURCHASED  AND USED  ON  PATIENTS  IN  HER CLINIC.

  1. funny-- according to Dekalb Co. OJS she used the insanity plea--- maybe that's the special "plea" she's referring to:

  2. "THE COURT UNDERSTOOD THAT MY STAFF AND I SIMPLY MADE A VERY REPETITIVE, COSTLY MISTAKE." - If that's the case why did the State want Dr. Mansfield to serve 4 years in a Federal prison???

Her children were taken away from her a couple of years ago. What licensed, practicing, board certified Pediatrician in the State of Georgia doesn't have custody of their own children?

  4. I can't believe it, she's a great doctor, my kids have been patients for years. She really messed things up for my kids, i'm having a hard time finding a doctor now and can't even get my kids prescriptions filled. I hope she does go to jail, it's not fair that she already was making good money and she was so greedy that it wasn't enough, and because of her dumb actions others have to suffers. Kathy Mansfield, your a bitch!

  6. We have ALL at somepoint made a mistake and God has so graciously decided to give mercy during whatever we were going through at that time. I am sure she has learned from her mistakes and as all of us God will see her through too!

  7. If you know Kathy then you also know that it's always someone else's fault. In all the years that I've known her (10+) I have never heard her say "it's my fault. I made a mistake. I'm sorry. It won't happen again!"

INSTEAD she blames the ex-husband's (<--- yes.plural), the Judge, Thomaston and lays blame on just about anything and everyone EXCEPT where it truly belongs. ON HERSELF!!! She really sounds nutty when she starts talking conspiracy theories. Kinda like Hilary talking about "vast right wing conspiracies"
