A VERBAL RUMBLE-ROOSKI BROKE-OUT AT A JOINT MEETING OF THE UPSON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND THOMASTON MAYOR AND COUNCIL--TUESDAY- ON THE 2025 JOINT PROJECTS BUDGET---MOSTLY CENTERED ON THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS DECLINING TO FUND THE IDA IN 2025--AS IT DID IN 2024.
AT ONE POINT THOMASTON MAYOR J.D.STALLINGS SUGGESTED JOINT PROJECTS BE DISSOLVED AND COMMISSION CHAIRMAN NORMAN ALLEN RESPONDED THE IDA IS NO LONGER IN JOINT PROJECTS BECAUSE THE COUNTY HAS DECLINED TO FUND IT.
CHAIRMAN ALLEN EXPLAINED THAT THE IDA ALREADY HAS ABOUT $3 MILLION IN THE BANK SO WHY SHOULD TAXPAYERS GIVE THEM MORE MONEY.
WHEN IT WENT TO A VOTE--THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE 2025 BUDGET AND THE CITY COUNCIL VOTED 2 TO 1 TO APPROVE--REEVES AND GREATHOUSE VOTING YES HEAD-NO.
