ACCORDING TO POST 26 GA. STATE PATROL IN THOMASTON, AN ALABAMA MAN DIED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT MONDAY NIGHT ON 19 NORTH.
86-YEAR OLD HOWARD J. GRANTHAM OF ASHFORD, ALABAMA WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE BY DEPUTY CORONER RICHARD LEE, STATE TROOPER TOMMIE WONNUM TOLD TGA NEWS.
TWO OTHERS WERE INJURED, A MOTHER AND HER SON. TRACY BARFOOT, OF 600 ATWATER ROAD AND HER SON JEFFREY FORD, 26 OF THE SAME ADDRESS , WERE IN SEPERATE VEHICLES, NORTHBOUND.
TROOPER WONNUM SAID A WITNESS TOLD HIM, GRANTHAM WAS SOUTHBOUND ON 19 AND HAD BEEN WEAVING IN THE ROAD. HE CROSSED THE CENTER LINE HIT JEFFREY FORD’S FORD EXPLORER, THEN HIT HIS MOTHER’S NISSAN MAXIMA HEAD-ON.
MS. BARFOOT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE MEDICAL CENTER OF CENTRAL GA. IN MACON BY UPSON EMS WITH MULTIPLE INJURIES. JEFFREY FORD WAS TAKEN TO THE E.R. OF URMC BY UPSON EMS.
