OF THOMASTON' INTERIM CITY MANAGER BILLY BECKETT SAYS WHEN
QUALIFYING CLOSED , THERE WERE 33 APPLICANTS FOR CITY
MANAGER AND 17 FOR THE NEW POST OF HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR.
MANAGER
BECKETT TOLD ZOOM NEWS MONDAY HE HOPES TO HAVE A CALLED
MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL ASAP TO PRESENT HIS
RECOMMENDATION FOR THE FIVE CANDIDATES TO BE INTERVIEWED. HE
WANTS QUICK ACTION BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME QUALITY
CANDIDATES AND TWO OTHER CITIES IN GEORGIA ARE LOOKING FOR
MANAGERS.
BECKETT
SAID SEVERAL WERE FROM THOMASTON, ONE FROM CALIFORNIA,
ARIZONA, MASSACHUETTS, AND FLORIDA, BUT MOST FROM GEORGIA. HE
DOES NOT WANT THE PERMANENT JOB.
THE
H.R. APPS WERE ALL FROM GEORGIA, SOME FROM AROUND THIS
AREA. THE CITY MANAGER IS DESIGNATED TO HIRE THE H.R.
POSITION, BUT SINCE HE IS AN INTERIM, BILLY SAID HE WILL
DO WHAT THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL DESIRES.
