THE UPSON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS REVERSED THEMSELVES, TUESDAY NIGHT, AND APPROVED A NEW CELL TOWER ON THE PROPERTY OF ROBERT ANDERSON ON LINDSEY ROAD NEAR THE LAMAR COUNTY LINE. THE BOARD VOTED IT DOWN AFTER NEIGHBORS OBJECTED AT A PREVIOUS MEETING, BUT WERE ADVISED BY OUT-GOING ZONING DIRECTOR, CHAD JACOBS IT MET ALL PROVISIONS OF THE ZONING CODE. CONSTRUCTION WILL BEGIN IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND IT WILL BE IN A WOODED AREA.
IN OTHER ACTION, THE COMMISSIONERS SET A PUBLIC HEARING FOR OCT. 25 ON A REQUEST TO CLOSE LANKFORD ROAD, THAT CONNECTS BRADSHAW ROAD AND SPRING CREEK ROAD. CHAIRMAN MAURICE RAINES SAID HE HAD A MEETING WITH THE TWO PROPERTY OWNERS INVOLVED, MONDAY, TO TRY AND REACH A COMPROMISE, BUT TALKS BROKE OFF. ANN LEVIS WANTS THE ROAD CLOSED, FORMER COUNTY COMMISSIONER JAMES MEEKS WANTS IT OPEN.
