LANGFORD DRIVE WILL REMAIN OPEN

AFTER  A  PUBLIC  HEARING  FOR  THE  INTENT  TO  CLOSE IT,  TUESDAY,   A  MOTION  TO  CLOSE  IT  FROM  UPSON  COUNTY  COMMISSIONER  STEVE  HUDSON  DIED  FOR  LACK OF  A  2ND.  HUDSON  SAID  THE  COUNTY  ROADS  DEPARTMENT  RECOMMENDED  IT  BE  CLOSED   SO  THE  COUNTY  WOULD  NOT  HAVE  THE    RESPONSIBILITY  FOR  MAINTAINING  IT.

FORMER  COUNTY  COMMISSIONER  JAMES  MEEKS  TOLD  TGA  NEWS  HE IS HAPPY  WITH   THE   OUTCOME  BECAUSE HE NEEDS  THE  ROAD  FOR  ACCESS  TO  HIS PROPERTY.   THE  OTHER  PROPERTY  OWNER  INVOLVED, ANN  LEVIS  OF  GRIFFIN HAD URGED THE  COUNTY  TO  CLOSE  IT  BECAUSE  ITS  USED FOR A LOVERS  LANE  AND  GARBAGE  DUMP.  UPSON EMC  SENT  THE  COMMISSIONERS A  LETTER  REQUESTING  IT  REMAIN  OPEN FOR  ACCESS  TO  POWER LINES.
