LAMAR CO. S.O. PROBES POSSIBLE HOMICIDE

According to Sheriff Brad White, at approximately 9:35 am Spalding County 911 received a call from a male subject stating he had just shot a man in the chest and was going to put the weapon in the road. The male subject called from a cellphone and hung up before Spalding County 911 could get an address. The male subject did leave his name. Numerous attempts were made to ping the cellphone, however those attempts were unsuccessful. 
At approximately 1:23 pm, Lamar County 911 received a call about a male subject unresponsive in the driveway at 939 Chappell Mill Road. Upon arrival at the location, Lt. Chris Webster found a deceased male in the driveway with what appeared to be a gunshot to the chest. 
Investigators with Lamar County Sheriff’s Office have located the male subject who called Spalding County 911. He had just been incarcerated in Butts County on unrelated charges. The scene has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Scene Investigators. Search warrants are being conducted by Sheriff’s Office Investigators in Lamar and Butts County. The name of the victim and person of interest in this case are being withheld while the investigation is ongoing.
