ACCORDING TO A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE THOMASTON POLICE DEPARTMENT, OFFICER PHILLIP TOBIN USED A TASER ON SUSPECTED DRUG DEALER, KELCEY ROCKEMORE, AGE 28 OUTSIDE THE HANDY MART GROCERY, 204 EAST WALKER.
THE STORE OWNER HAD FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE P.D. THAT ROCKEMORE HAD TRIED TO SELL NARCOTICS TO HIS EMPLOYEES AND THREATENED MANAGEMENT.
ACCORDING TO THE PRESS RELEASE—WHEN TOBIN WENT TO PAT HIM DOWN AND SERVE ROCKEMORE WITH A CRIMINAL TRESPASS WARNING, HE PULLED AWAY AND WAS TASERED.
A MACON TV STATION REPORTED A GROUP OF CITIZENS MET AT ST. MARY’S AME CHURCH WEDNESDAY NIGHT, UPSET ABOUT THE POLICE OFFICERS ACTIONS.
THEY REPORTEDLY DISCUSSED A PETITION EFFORT DEMANDING JUSTICE. POLICE CHIEF DAN GREATHOUSE CONTACTED THE GBI ABOUT THE TASER INCIDENT JUNE 11, AND ON JUNE 17, ASKED THE REGION 2 OFFICE TO INVESTIGATE .
