IN A PRESS RELEASE, TUESDAY, THOMASTON POLICE CHIEF DAN GREATHOUSE ANNOUNCED HE HAS ORDERED AN INTERNAL REVIEW OF ALL PERSONNEL COMPLAINT CASES ISSUED AGAINST POLICE OFFICER PHILLIP TOBIN, FOLLOWING A TASER INCIDENT JUNE 11TH AT HANDY MART GROCERY, EAST WALKER STREET.
THE P.D. SAID OFFICER TOBIN RESPONDED AFTER THE STORE OWNER FILED A COMPLAINT AGAINST, KELCEY ROCKEMORE, AGE 25 , A SUSPECTED DRUG DEALER. THE STORE OWNER SAID ROCKEMORE HAD APPROACHED HIS EMPLOYEES TRYING TO SELL THEM DRUGS.
CHIEF GREATHOUSE HAS CALLED ON THE GBI TO INVESTIGATE THE TASER INCIDENT AND HE SAID THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME TO CONTACT THE P.D. COMMAND STAFF IF THEY FEEL THEIR CASES OR ISSUES CONCERNING THEIR CASES HAVE NOT BEEN ADDRESSED.
THE COMMAND STAFF INCLUDES CAPTAIN SIDNEY CORLEY, LT. PAUL WALKER AND LT. ANDREW PIPPIN.
THE TASER INCIDENT HAS SPARKED A PUBLIC OUTCRY AND A PETITION HAS BEEN CIRCULATING CALLING FOR TOBIN TO BE FIRED, SO FAR 130 SIGNATURES HAVE BEEN COLLECTED.
