IN TUESDAY’S THOMASTON CITY COUNCIL ELECTION, JIM RICHARDS EDGED SAM COKER BY TWO VOTES, 181 TO 179 FOR THE DISTRICT THREE UNEXPIRED TERM OF THE LATE ED BELL. 441 VOTES WERE CAST, A TURN-OUT OF JUST UNDER 9%. RICHARDS, A FORMER VICE-PRESIDENT OF GORDON COLLEGE IN BARNESVILLE IS EXPECTED TO BE A VOTING MEMBER OF COUNCIL AT NEXT TUESDAY’S REGULAR MEETING.
