THOMASTON UPSON IDA

DURING   THE  SEPTEMBER  MEETING  OF  THE  THOMASTON  UPSON  INDUSTRIAL  DEVELOPMENT  AUTHORITY, MONDAY,  EXECUTIVE  DIRECTOR  J.R.  CHARLES  GAVE  AN  UPDATE   ON  PROSPECT  ACTIVITY,  USING  CODE  NAMES. PROJECT  BUTTERBALL,  A  COMPANY  DOING  BUSINESS IN  CHINA, LOOKING  TO  RE-LOCATE  TO  THE  STATES. PROJECT  TREAD, AN INTERNATIONAL  COMPANY IN  THE  TIRE  RETREAD  BUSINESS, LOOKING  AT  THOMASTON  AND  OTHER  SITES  IN  GEORGIA,  WHILE  DEVELOPING  A  BUSINESS  PLAN. PROJECT  STAMP MADE  A  WINDSHIELD VISIT  TO UPSON COUNTY,  A  FIRM  THAT  WANTS  TO  LOCATE NEAR MACON. THE ISSUE OF PAYING  COMMISSIONS  TO  REAL  ESTATE  BROKERS IF  THEY  BRING  A  PROJECT  TO  TOWN,  WAS  ON  THE TABLE.   THE  IDA  DECIDED  EARLIER  THIS  YEAR TO  DO IT. MAYOR HAYS  ARNOLD  SAID MANY IDA’S  DON’T PAY COMMISSIONS  TO  REALTORS  BUT  ITS  OK IF  CAUTION IS  EXERCISED.
