ACCORDING TO UPSON COUNTY SHERIFF DAN KILGORE, A COYOTE THAT BIT A 14 YEAR OLD MALE JUVENILE HAS TESTED POSITIVE FOR RABIES, AND VICTIM IS UNDERGOING TREATMENT. UPSON COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER ADRIAN RELEFORD TOLD 101 NEWS HE IS GOING DOOR TO DOOR IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD OF SANDY BROOK CIRCLE IN WESTERN UPSON COUNTY ALERTING THE PUBLIC TO THE DANGER.
SHERIFF KILGORE SAID THE YOUNGSTER WAS BITTEN WHEN HE STUCK HIS HAND OUTSIDE THE GARAGE AND THE COYOTE BIT DOWN ON HIS LEFT HAND AND WOULD NOT TURN LOOSE. THE TEEN'S FATHER SLUGGED THE ANIMAL IN THE HEAD WITH A PIPE AND KNOCKED IT UNCONSCIOUS, AND THE FATHER RAN IN THE HOUSE RETURNED WITH A 357 PISTOL AND SHOT AND KILLED THE ANIMAL.
