THE THOMASTON CITY COUNCIL APPROVED A NEW TEN YEAR CONTRACT FOR JOINT PROJECTS WITH THE UPSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, TUESDAY, BUT DID NOT APPROVE THE JOINT PROJECTS BUDGET. COUNTY MANAGER JASON TINSLEY TOLD 101 NEWS, WEDNESDAY, JOINT PROJECTS WILL CONTINUE AS THEY HAVE BEEN WITH NO INTERRUPTION OF SERVICES THE PUBLIC EXPECTS. CITY HALL IS EXPECTED TO FOWARD AN OFFICIAL LETTER TO THE COUNTY EXPLAINING ITS ACTIONS.
THE CITY COUNCIL WAS SEEKING A $98,000 CREDIT FROM THE COUNTY IN THE CONTRACT, CLAIMING JOINT PROJECTS EMPLOYEES ENJOY BETTER COUNTY BENEFITS THAN CITY EMPLOYEES. THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HAD APPROVED THE CONTRACT LAST WEEK.
