Additional Funding For EMS Approved

THE UPSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AND THOMASTON CITY COUNCIL UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED AN INCREASE IN FUNDING FOR AMERI PRO THE NEW EMS SERVICE IN THE COMMUNITY, AT A JOINT MEETING WEDNESDAY.

THE CITY AND COUNTY WILL PAY AN ADDITIONAL $19,000 PER MONTH WITH THE COUNTY PAYING $12,350 AND THE CITY PROVIDING $6,650. THE NEW ANNUAL TOTAL IS $1.2 MILLION. 

AMERI PRO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT LARRY RICHARDSON MADE A PRESENTATION TO THE GOVERNING BODIES AND EXPLAINED UNFORSEEN COSTS FOR COMMUNICATIONS GEAR, PERSONNEL, AND HOUSING THE AMBULANCE SERVICE CAUSED BY THE SHORT TIME FRAME OF THE BID PROCESS.

LAMAR COUNTY, A PARTNER IN THE EMS SERVICE HAD ALREADY APPROVED A $28,000 MONTHLY INCREASE TO $796,000 ANNUALLY.

BOTH COUNCIL MEMBERS AND COMMISSIONERS INDICATED THEY ARE PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE.
