UPDATE: THOMASTON'S IST HOMICIDE OF 2022

THOMASTON POLICE CHIEF MIKE RICHARDSON HAS UPDATED AN EARLY MORNING HOMICIDE SATURDAY AT FARVIEW APARTMENTS, AVE. F. INVOLVING THE SHOOTING DEATH OF 28 YEAR OLD LAQUAN SMITH OF THOMASTON, SHOT MULTIPLE TIMES.

THE CHIEF TOLD 101 NEWS, CRIMINAL WARRANTS FOR AGGREVATED ASSAULT HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR TWO BROTHERS FOR AN EARLIER SHOOTING AT THE APARTMENT COMPLEX WITH NO VICTIM FOUND.

20 YEAR OLD MICHAEL ANTHONY JACKSON AND 22 YEAR OLD RYAN ARMON LEWIS. ONLY SHELL CASINGS WERE DISCOVERED AT THE SITE. THEIR MOTHER, 39 YEAR OLD MELANYE JACKSON HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS OF OBSTRUCTION AND TWO COUNTS OF HINDERING APPREHENSION OF A FUGITIVE.

CHIEF RICHARDSON WOULD NOT CONFIRM JACKSON AND LEWIS ARE SUSPECTS IN THE MURDER BUT ADDED FURTHER CHARGES COULD BE FILED. THE P.D. THINKS THE TWO HAVE SKIPPED TOWN. 

THE SMITH VICTIM WAS FOUND FACE DOWN, SHIRTLESS IN FRONT OF BUILDING H. AT FARVIEW IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF SATURDAY. HE HAD GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO THE ARM, LOWER BACK, SHOULDERS, AND TWO GUNSHOTS TO THE NECK. TWO NEARBY VEHICLES HAD DAMAGE FROM THE SHOOTING, A GRAY BMW AND A RED CHEVROLET.

CHIEF RICHARDSON SAYS THE MOTIVE FOR SMITH'S KILLING APPEARS TO BE A DISPUTE OVER MONEY.
