GOV KEMP ORDERS NATIONAL GUARD TO ASSIST URMC

GOVERNOR BRIAN KEMP ANNOUNCES THE NATIONAL GUARD WILL BE DEPLOYED IN COVID RESPONSE TO UPSON REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN THOMASTON AND OTHER HOSPITALS ACROSS THE STATE. THE GOVERNOR SAID ABOUT 96 TROOPS WILL SUPPORT GEORGIA'S DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AT TESTING SITES AND ANOTHER 100 TROOPS WILL SERVE AT HOSPITALS ACROSS GEORGIA.

ACCORDING TO THE GOVERNOR, HOSPITALS ARE EXPERIENCING STAFF SHORTAGES AND FEELING THE STRAIN OF THE OMICRON VARIANT. ALSO THE STATE IS PUTTING $100 MILLION TOWARD HEALTHCARE STAFFING TO HELP ADD 1000 ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL.
