AT A WORK SHOP TUESDAY, THE THOMASTON-UPSON BOARD OF EDUCATION VOTED 4 –3 TO DENY A MOVE TO BLOCK SCHEDULING AT UPSON LEE HIGH SCHOOL NEXT SCHOOL YEAR.
THE BOARD WANTS MORE INFORMATION ABOUT PLANNING AND WHAT COURSES WOULD BE OFFERED AND REQUESTED AN UPDATE NEXT OCTOBER OR NOVEMBER.
THE HIGH SCHOOL DROPPED BLOCK SCHEDULING ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO, HOLDING 4 ACADEMIC CLASSES OF 90 MINUTES PER DAY INSTEAD OF 6 PERIODS.
HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL TRACY CALDWELL AND HIS STAFF APPROACHED THE BOARD AT THE REGULAR MARCH MEETING AND RECOMMENDED A RETURN TO BLOCK, SOMETHING THE GRIFFIN-SPALDING COUNTY SCHOOLS WILL DO NEXT FALL.
