AT THE THIRD PUBLIC HEARING ON A PROPOSED TWO MILL TAX INCREASE, THURSDAY, MAYOR HAYS ARNOLD RECOMMENDED KEEPING THE TAX MILLAGE THE SAME AND THE MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
MAYOR ARNOLD SAID BEFORE THE RECOMMENDATION HE CONSULTED WITH COUNTY MANAGER PATRICK COMISKEY ON FINANCES AND THE $400,000 THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN YIELDED BY THE PROPOSED TWO MILL TAX INCREASE , CAN COME FROM RESERVE FUNDS.
THERE HAD BEEN STRONG OBJECTIONS TO THE TAX HIKE AT THE PREVIOUS TWO PUBLIC HEARINGS, ABOUT A DOZEN ATTENDED THE FIRST HEARING, 50 ATTENDED THURSDAY, AND 25 WERE PRESENT AT THURSDAY’S HEARING.
