DURING A TUESDAY NEWS CONFERENCE, UPSON COUNTY COMMISSION CHAIRMAN MAURICE RAINES SAID THE DISTRICT ONE COMMISSION POST HAS BEEN VACATED AFTER SANDRA TRICE ENTERED A GUILTY PLEA FRIDAY IN UPSON SUPERIOR COURT. IT WILL BE OFFICIAL WHEN SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE CHRIS EDWARDS ISSUES AN ORDER LATER THIS WEEK TO BE SENT TO GOVERNOR NATHAN DEAL.
THE CHAIRMAN SAID AT THAT TIME, THE OFFICE OF THE PROBATE JUDGE WILL PROVIDE FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE REMAINING MONTHS IN MS. TRICE’S TERM, A SPECIAL ELECTION WILL NOT BE NECESSARY. HE TOLD TGA NEWS HE HOPES THE APPOINTMENT CAN BE MADE PRIOR TO NEXT TUESDAY’S REGULAR MEETING.
