IN PIKE COUNTY 8 CITIZENS TOTAL SPOKE AGAINST A PROPOSED NEAR 17% PROPERTY TAX INCREASE AT TWO MEETINGS WEDNESDAY--3 IN A MORNING HEARING AND 5 IN THE EVENING. COUNTY MANAGER BRANDON ROGERS SAID THE BOARD WILL SET THE TAX MILLAGE RATE AT A MEETING OCT. 5TH AT 6PM. AFTER HEARING FROM THE PUBLIC, WEDNESDAY, COUNTY MANAGER ROGERS TOLD 101 NEWS, THE COMMISSIONERS ASKED HIM TO GO BACK AND WORK ON REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF THE TAX INCREASE, TO FIND SOME MIDDLE GROUND ON THE PROPOSAL. THE COUNTY MANAGER TOLD US THAT WILL BE A CHALLENGE, IT MEANS SOME PROJECTS WILL HAVE TO BE DELAYED AND PUT ON HOLD--AND WILL REQUIRE SOME CREATIVE THINKING.
