UPSON COUNTY SHERIFF DAN KILGORE SAYS A SOUTH FLORIDA TEEN IS BACK WITH HER MOTHER IN WEST PALM BEACH AFTER SHE WAS FOUND SAFE AT A RESIDENCE IN PHENIX CITY, ALABAMA, MONDAY, THE STUDENT, MIA BRAILFORD, AGE 16, WENT MISSING OVER THE WEEKEND FROM THE LAWHORN SCOUTING BASE AT CAMP THUNDER. UPSON COUNTY DEPUTIES TOOK HER TO THE ATLANTA AIRPORT WHERE SHE WAS MET BY HER MOTHER , TUESDAY.
THE SHERIFF TOLD 101 NEWS THE FLORIDA TEEN HAD MADE A RAP VIDEO ON INSTRAGRAM RECENTLY WITH THE MALE SUBJECT WHO PICKED HER UP AT CAMP THUNDER, SATURDAY NIGHT. SHERIFF KILGORE SAID THE MAN , JONTA AUSTIN, AGE 27 OF PHENIX CITY FACES FELONY CHARGES IN THE CASE AND WILL BE RETURNED TO THE UPSON COUNTY JAIL FROM THE RUSSELL COUNTY, ALABAMA JAIL ON WEDNESDAY.
THE TEEN WAS AT THE SCOUTING BASE WITH 3500 STUDENTS IN JROTC COMPETITION.
SHERIFF KILGORE THANKED THE FBI AND GBI FOR THEIR TRACKING TECHNOLOGY IN LOCATING THE TWO AND HAD A PAT ON THE BACK FOR STATE DNR, PIKE COUNTY S.O. AND OTHER LOCAL VOLUNTEERS INVOLVED IN THE SEARCH.
