UPDATE MOLENA POLICE OFFICER NVOLVED SHOOTING

CITY OF MOLENA POLICE CHIEF MATT POLK SAYS A MOLENA POLICE DEPARTMENT RESERVE OFFICER INVOLVED IN A FATAL SHOOTING IN ATLANTA IS NOT THE OFFICER 101 NEWS HAS IDENTIFIED. 

SEVERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES CONFIRMED THAT NAME TO US BUT CHIEF POLK SAYS ITS INCORRECT AND WE REGRET THE ERROR. CHIEF POLK SAID THE OFFICER WHO WAS SHOT IN THE NECK IS IN STABLE CONDITION AT GRADY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN ATLANTA.

CHIEF POLK TOLD US HE IS WAITING ON RESULTS FROM THE GBI INVESTIGATION BEFORE HE RELEASES THE NAME OF THE MOLENA OFFICER.

ACCORDING TO THE GBI, THE OFFICER WAS WORKING WITH ATL PLUS, A PARKING ENFORCEMENT COMPANY AND HAD A CONFRONTATION WITH AN ANGRY MAN OVER A PARKING TICKET.

HE FIRED A SHOT AND WOUNDED THE OFFICER AND THE OFFICER RETURNED FIRE AND KILLED THE MAN, IDENTIFIED AS 25 YEAR OLD JAMON DARRYL MCCALL OF LITHONIA. A FEMALE AT THE SCENE WAS GRAZED BY A BULLET AND RECEIVED MEDICAL TREATMENT.
