Plea Deal In Upson Murder Case

A GUILTY PLEA IN A THOMASTON MURDER CASE THURSDAY IN UPSON SUPERIOR COURT.

COREY THOMAS SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS, 15 TO SERVE IN PRISON BY CHIEF JUDGE FLETCHER SAMS FOR THE SHOOTING DEATH OF JOSEPH HOMMEN DURING A COOK-OUT ON 6TH STREET IN SILVERTOWN.

ACCORDING TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT, THOMAS IN HIS 20'S, SHOT AND KILLED HOMMEN AGE 27 AND ALSO WOUNDED A FEMALE AT THE OUTING WHEN A DISPUTE ERUPTED.

WITH THE PLEA AGREEMENT THOMAS HAD HIS MALICE MURDER CHARGE REDUCED TO VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER, PLUS A $3000 FINE AND BANISHMENT FROM THE GRIFFIN JUDICIAL CIRCUIT WHEN HIS SENTENCE IS COMPLETED.
