MAN GETS 20 YEARS FOR RAPE

A DEFENDANT IN UPSON SUPERIOR COURT—TRAVIS MONTEL SEARCY—WAS SCHEDULED TO GO TO TRIAL OCT. 28TH ON RAPE/KIDNAPPING/ AND ARMED ROBBERY CHARGES— BUT HE ENTERED A GUILTY PLEA , MONDAY.

ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY MARK IRVIN TOLD 101 NEWS—SEARCY WAS SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS— 19 TO SERVE IN PRISON.

DISTRICT ATTORNEY BEN COKER SAID SEARCY WAS RE-INDICTED BY THE UPSON CO. GRAND JURY THIS MONTH AFTER THE CASE WAS RETURNED FROM THE STATE COURT OF APPEALS.
