ACCORDING TO MACON. COM, UPSON COUNTY NATIVE DONALD BAILEY, 51, WAS NAMED PRESIDENT AND PUBLISHER OF THE TELEGRAPH, MONDAY.
BAILEY WAS BORN IN THOMASTON AND MOVED TO MACON IN HIS EARLY TEENS.HE EARNED A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN JOURNALSIM FROM UGA AND A MASTER’S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION FROM WHAT IS NOW GEORGIA COLLEGE AND STATE UNIVERSITY IN MILLEDGEVILLE.
HE BEGAN HIS NEWSPAPER CAREER IN 1984 AS AN ADVERTISING INTERN AT THE TELEGRAPH. BAILEY HAS BEEN PRESIDENT AND PUBLISHER OF THE TIMES IN SHREVEPORT, LA, SINCE JAN. OF 2012. HE WAS PRESIDENT OF THE AUGUSTA CHRONICLE FROM 2004 TO 2011.
HE WILL BEGIN WORK IN MACON, APRIL 8.
