DESPITE PLEAS FROM PARENTS, THE THOMASTON-UPSON BOARD OF EDUCATION VOTED 6-1 TUESDAY NIGHT TO KEEP CRIMINAL TRESPASS CHARGES AGAINST 14 SENIORS INVOLVED IN A SENIOR PRANK TO OCCUPY THE HIGH SCHOOL. MERIAM ELSEY CAST THE ONLY VOTE AGAINST THE MOTION.
BECAUSE THEY WERE SUSPENDED THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO MARCH IN COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES.
ACCORDING TO THE REPORT BY THE UPSON COUNTY S.O. WHEN PRINCIPAL TRACY CALDWELL ARRIVED AT SCHOOL THE STUDENTS, WHO APPARENTLY ENTERED THE BUILDING THROUGH THE ROOF, WOULD NOT REMOVE ROPES THAT SEALED THE DOORS. THE PRINCIPAL TOLD DEPUTIES TO FILE CHARGES, CASES THAT WILL BE HEARD NEXT MONTH IN UPSON MAGISTRATE COURT.
