DISTRICT ONE UPSON COUNTY COMMISSIONER SANDRA TRICE ENTERED A GUILTY PLEA FRIDAY IN UPSON SUPERIOR COURT AND WAS SENTENCED TO FINE, PROBATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICE BY JUDGE CHRIS EDWARDS.
AS PART OF THE AGREEMENT, ALL CHARGES WERE DROPPED AGAINST CO-DEFENDANT DEBRA JONES-PARKS. BOTH WERE SCHEDULED FOR JURY TRIAL MAY 3RD.
ACCORDING TO SPECIAL PROSECUTOR ALONZO WHITAKER OF COLUMBUS, COMMISSIONER TRICE ENTERED A GUILTY PLEA TO 6 COUNTS INVOLVING THE SALE OF PRE-NEED FUNERAL CONTRACTS , AND WAS SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS PROBATION, A $500 FINE, 80 HOURS COMMUNITY SERVICE, BUT NO RESTITUTION.
COMMISSIONER TRICE’S ATTORNEY WILLIAM MURRAY OF AMERICUS CALLED IT “ A NONSENSE PROSECUTION.”
