THOMASTON MAN DIES FOLLOWING STANDOFF WITH POLICE

ACCORDING TO THOMASTON POLICE CHIEF MIKE RICHARDSON, HE WAS INFORMED MONDAY AFTERNOON THAT A THOMASTON MAN INVOLVED IN A STAND OFF WITH POLICE LAST WEEK HAS DIED OF A SELF INFLECTED GUNSHOT WOUND, SUNDAY AT A COLUMBUS HOSPITAL.

THE CHIEF SAID, 46 YEAR OLD JAMES J REDD JR. OF SPRINGDALE DRIVE FIRED AT LEAST TWO SHOTS AT POLICE DURING THE STANDOFF. HIS BODY HAS BEEN SENT TO THE GBI CRIME LAB FOR AUTOPSY, AND THE CHIEF SAID HE EXPECTS A REPORT FROM THE GBI INVESTIGATION INTO THE INCIDENT IN THE NEXT 30 DAYS.

CHIEF RICHARDSON EXPRESSED HIS CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY.
