BIG LIZA LAKE HAS ISSUES

UPSON EMA DIRECTOR MARTHA ANN MCCARTY SAID ENGINEERS WILL BE ON SITE FRIDAY MORNING AT THE BIG LIZA WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA IN TALBOT COUNTY TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF THE DAM OF THE 195 ACRE LAKE. THE 5 INCHES OF RAIN IN THE AREA THIS WEEK HAS SWELLED THE LAKE AND CAUSED SOME STRESSES ON ITS SYSTEM.

AT LAST REPORT THE EMERGENCY SPILLWAY WAS WORKING AS IT SHOULD BUT RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS ON ADAMS FERRY ROAD AND MINOR ROAD IN UPSON COUNTY SHOULD BE ON THE ALERT—SHE TOLD ZOOM NEWS.


MARTHA ANN REPORTED WATER IS OVER THE BANKS AT TEN MILE CREEK THAT FLOWS INTO THE FLINT RIVER AND SEVERAL YARDS AND AT LEAST ONE HOME HAS BEEN INVADED.
