IN UPSON SUPERIOR COURT, THURSDAY, CODY HARSHBARGER, AGE 25, ENTERED AN ALFORD PLEA TO FELONY MURDER AND WAS SENTENCED TO LIFE WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE.
HARSHBARGER WAS CHARGED WITH THE DEATH OF A COLUMBUS WOMAN, JULIE MILNER, AGE 63 AFTER HE RAN OVER HER WITH HER CAR , ON MANLEY ROAD AND SHE DIED 17 DAYS LATER. ASSISTANT D.A. ASHTON JORDAN SAID HARSHBARGER STRANGLED MILNER'S COMPANION CHRISTA CLARK, AGE 41 WHO HAD CONTACTED HIM ON HIS PHONE ABOUT SEX FOR HIRE. HOWEVER, HARSHBARGER PLANNED TO ROB THEM, STOLE THEIR CAR AND FLED TO PIKE COUNTY, CRASHED THE CAR AND WAS ARRESTED MONTHS LATER IN GWINNETT COUNTY. THE TRIO WAS DESCRIBED AS SMOKING CRACK COCAINE WHILE THE EVENT UNFOLDED IN A SHED BEHIND A MOBILE HOME.
A.D. JORDAN TOLD US IN AN ALFORD PLEA, CALLED A BEST INTEREST PLEA, THE DEFENDANT DOES NOT ADMIT GUILT BUT KNOWLEDGES HE WOULD HAVE BEEN CONVICTED AT TRIAL.
